Several days ago, an Israeli family court ruled that Lev Tahor is a cult. The ruling came in response to a petition filed by families whose children were being held by Lev Tahor, and the Attorney General. Unlike Canada, the Attorney General is not elected but appointed by the government
In her decision, Judge Rivka Makayes, Vice President of the Family Court referenced many punitive policies being carried out against members of the community that included the separation of children from their parents—even in infancy; the transfer of children to be raised in another family; preventing formal education and isolation from and intimidation and threats.
The Judge concluded that the cult uses severe physical punishment, and forces underage marriages (from the age of 14 for boys and 15 for girls), with spouses who sometimes have age differences of up to 20 years.
It was also proven that when the minors leave the community, they suffer from severe psychiatric problems for many years. Rightfully so, Oded Tuik and the other families of these members that were sucked in by the cult, were concerned.
I received a number of verbally abusive comments from ignorant and naive supporters of the cult, cult members themselves, and haredim. All I can say is that: STICKS AND STONES MAY BREAK MY BONES, BUT NAMES WILL NEVER HURT ME! SPECIALLY WHEN I AM RIGHT!
