Lev Tahor Abuse, Neglect & Suicide Watch

Lev Tahor

To add credence to the complaint filed by Quebec child welfare officials, Lev Tahor was recently in family court to fight a move by the Chatham-Kent Children’s Aid Society to remove 14 of its children from their families. The move by the local Children’s Aid Society is similar but unrelated to the actions that were taken by Quebec authorities.

By being similar, one has to ask him or herself, are the allegations of child abuse and neglect true or not? Why did the Chatham-Kent Children’s Aid Society attempt to remove the Lev Tahor children, if the allegations are not true? Continue reading

On December 21 and 22, 2013, Toronto was hit by an ice storm that left hundreds of thousands without power, and much of the city paralyzed. The storm brought freezing rain which coated trees with ice, brought down power lines and caused travel to come to a virtual halt.

Public transportation was curtailed, and is slowly being restored. Anywhere from 250,000 to 300,000 residences were hit by power outages, with power in some areas not expected to be restored before Boxing Day. Continue reading

Nelson Mandela’s Struggle & Canada the Unsung Hero

Nelson Mandela

The world mourns the passing of Nelson Mandela, one of history’s greats who dedicated his life to freedom, human dignity, respect and correcting injustices by using the weapon of reconciliation. Throughout his life, as leader of peaceful protests and armed resistance against the white minority’s oppressive regime in the racially divided country of South Africa, this activist and former president helped bring an end to apartheid and had become a moral compass for other nations.

With statements of sympathy and focus on the reflections of world leaders such as Barack Obama on “Mandela the legacy”, Canada in its true style of quiet, reserved, and unpretentious, and “refusing to assume the spotlight” diplomacy has once again been ignored internationally on its long standing history of taking initiatives on global issues involving human rights and injustice. Russian ambassador says country’s anti-gay laws ‘misunderstood’

Some time ago, I wrote about Russia’s law banning non-traditional sexual relations which will be extended to, and include all athletes attending the 2014 Games in Sochi. This will be applied to anyone attending, be it athlete, spectator, vendor, or the man in the moon. I called it  “discrimination and harassment based solely on a person’s sexual orientation. Nothing more and it is totally wrong! It’s repressive and oppressive!”

Now, along comes Russia’s ambassador to Canada, Georgiy Mamedov, saying that Western nations “overreacted” in their concerns that gay athletes would face discrimination at the 2014 Winter Olympics, which open in Sochi in February 2014. Continue reading

Congregation Riminov, one of the charities controlled by Shlomo Helebrans brought in more than $1.9-million in 2005 and claimed land and property assets of $5.6 million in 2006.
